Osteopathic Wellness

How would you like to feel & perform better than ever?
What if you could achieve this in a relaxing, enjoyable way?

This program is aimed at generally healthy individuals who simply want to be & feel their best.

Whether you feel normal, or stressed, and a bit 'under the weather', the beauty of osteopathic manual practice when applied this way, is that the body will always respond to it in a positive manner. You do not need to be unwell or injured to benefit.

Think of Osteopathic Wellness as 'fine tuning' of the body to achieve the most harmonious interaction and reintegration of the body's systems.

Osteopathic Wellness is a proactive approach to encourage your body to function at it's peak. This encourages the body's systems to work harmoniously and also gives it the best chance to ward off any would be invaders in the form of bacteria and viruses.

Your sympathetic nervous system, or “fight / flight” response, is activated during times of stress. it is often overstimulated with today's stressful lifestyle.  Sympathetic dominance within the nervous system can lead to adrenal stress, which will decrease the immune function of other organs. This hormonal imbalance can lead to another organ or system failure, such as cardiovascular disease.

Osteopathic techniques can balance the sympathetic (“fight / flight”) and parasympathetic ("rest/digest") systems, allowing endocrine control of immune function to be restored. Your diaphragm acts as a pump and treatment can mobilize the diaphragm and ribcage to enhance breathing.
Full deep breathing stimulates your parasympathetic nervous system and encourages fluid flow.

Techniques aimed at the lymphatic system can stimulate the release of immune cells from lymph nodes as well as increasing the flow of lymphatic fluid.

Did you know that back in 1918, when the Spanish influenza outbreak affected the US over 28% of the population succumbed to the pandemic the mortality rate in osteopathic hospitals was dramatically less than in other hospitals? Osteopaths very successfully reduced patient mortality and morbidity by using lymphatic and other osteopathic treatment techniques.

With colds, flu, pneumonia and asthma, osteopathic manipulative treatment can enhance thoracic mobility and lymphatic drainage, as well as liver, spleen and abdominal organ function.

By rebalancing the nervous system and by restoring the motion in your joints and organs and enhancing their function, your body’s function and equilibrium are optimized.

The protocol involves 4-6 50 minute treatments to enhance functioning throughout the whole body.
Treatment is gentle and de-stressing; it can also reduce anxiety & raise immunity.
The treatments can be weekly or bi-weekly. Following this you may choose to maintain the benefits by treatment at intervals chosen in discussion with the practitioner.
